Regular Season Round 9: Istanbul B.B. - Pi Koleji 70-71

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Genc Telekom and Istanbul B.B.. Leader Genc Telekom (8-0) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Istanbul B.B. (4-4). Genc Telekom managed to escape with a 1-point win 71-70 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Istanbul B.B.. The guests trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 28-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Ilhan Goekalp (198-91) who scored 27 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sezgin Eris (185-85) who recorded 15 points and 8 assists and Recep Dogrusoez (-86) added 19 points respectively. Four Istanbul B.B. players scored in double figures. Genc Telekom have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Istanbul B.B. dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Selcuk Univ. and Usak. Genc Telekom will meet at home Vestel (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Istanbul B.B. will play against Gaziantep and hope to secure a win.
