Regular Season Round 14: Silute - Perlas-MRU 86-82

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Silute (6-8) beat at home higher ranked Perlas-MRU (7-7) 86-82 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-19. But Perlas-MRU won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Silute dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas-MRU's 44. Guard Mantas Tamasevicius (196-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Evaldas Saulys (193-93) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Gintautas Vileita (194-75, college: Monmouth) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Mantas Kazonas (202-89) added 18 points in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Five Silute and four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Silute maintains twelfth position with 6-8 record, which they share with Mazeikiai. Perlas-MRU lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Silute will face higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (#3) in Kaunas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
