Regular Season Round 5: Mersin - Fenerbahce 63-77

Bottom-ranked Mersin (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to second ranked Fenerbahce (4-1) 77-63. Mersin was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 43-25 second half run of Fenerbahce. They also forced 19 Mersin turnovers. Forward Angel McCoughtry (185-86, college: Louisville) nailed 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and international center Nevriye Yilmaz (194-80) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fenerbahce. Defending champion maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader Galatasaray, which they share with Kayseri. Mersin lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Fenerbahce will play against league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mersin will play on the road against Optimum TED (#9) in Ankara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
