Regular Season Round 5: Galatasaray - Tarsus Bld 84-68

TKBL top team - Galatasaray (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Tarsus Bld (3-2) in Istanbul 84-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tarsus Bld. The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tarsus Bld's 34. Galatasaray looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Italian-American swingman Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds. Galatasaray's coach Ceyhun Yildizoglu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Tangela Smith (193-77, college: Iowa, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Yasemin Dalgalar (183-88) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galatasaray have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Tarsus Bld at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Ceyhan Bld and Samsun. Galatasaray are looking forward to face league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tarsus Bld will play at home against Ceyhan Bld in Adana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
