Regular Season Round 9: Usak - Darussafaka 86-89

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Darussafaka and 8th ranked Usak had identical 4-3 record. But Usak was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Istanbul 89-86 on Sunday night. Usak was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Darussafaka shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. J.Lamont Carter stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!) (perfect behind the arc making all eight shots !!!) for the winners and guard Goekhan Sunter (196-80, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Nikolay Pastal (202-83) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds and American guard Dijuan Harris (175-86, college: Charlotte, agency: ARN Sports and Entertainment) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Darussafaka. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Usak lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Darussafaka will face higher ranked Final Genclik (#3) in Bursa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Usak will play against Maliye Milli (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
