Regular Season Round 9: Vaerlose - Horsens 82-92

The biggest surprise of round 9 in Dameligaen was guest Horsens' (4-5) road victory over Vaerlose (#6) 92-82 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Strangely Vaerlose outrebounded Horsens 48-32 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brittany Bowen (177-88, college: Butler) who scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Josefine Sorensen (171-87) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was J.Houghtaling who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Jaimie McFarlin (180-89, college: Wash.-St.Louis) added 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Horsens and five Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Vaerlose's coach Jesper Johansen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Horsens moved-up to third place, which they share with Amager. Vaerlose lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Aabyhoj and Falcon. Horsens is looking forward to face Amager (#3) in Kastrup in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vaerlose will play on the road against Lemvig and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
