Seventh-ranked Vestel (5-4) made lots of trouble for top-ranked Genc Telekom (9-0) in Ankara on Wednesday. Genc Telekom managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 24-19 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. Genc Telekom dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Vestel's 28. Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: TSS Management) fired 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Sahin Ekmen (203-89) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and center Umut Yenice (209-79, agency: EM-PA) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Four Vestel players scored in double figures. Genc Telekom have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-0 record. Vestel at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Genc Telekom will face TED Istanbul (#19) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vestel will play against Gaziantep (#4).
