Regular Season Round 8: Beroe - Neftochimic 72-73

The most exciting game of round 8 in the NBL took place in Stara Zagora. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked Beroe 07 (5-2) to third ranked Neftochimic (5-2) 73-72 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Beroe 07. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 1 point. Strangely Beroe 07 outrebounded Neftochimic 49-29 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian forward Katerina Dorogobuzova (187-90, agency: LBM Management) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Silvia Peeva (172-79) chipped in 8 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international center Vera Perostiyska (196-82, college: FIU) produced a double-double by scoring 32 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Zoya Stanoeva (182-76, agency: Global Sports Plaza) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Beroe 07. Neftochimic is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Slavia (#7) in Sofia in the next round where they are favorite. Beroe 07 will play on the road against Levski (#4) in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
