Regular Season Round 8: Zalgiris - Siauliai 104-84

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaunas. Top-ranked host Zalgiris (6-0) smashed one of their biggest challengers Siauliai (7-2) 104-84. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Zalgiris shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. 28 personal fouls committed by Siauliai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and the former international forward Paulius Jankunas (205-84, agency: Interperformances) who added 9 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Cam Long (193-88, college: George Mason) scored 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 6-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Lietuvos rytas. Siauliai at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. Zalgiris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siauliai will play on the road against Sakalai in Vilnius and is hoping to win this game.
