There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Guifoes (2-4) won against at home 7th ranked Fisica (2-4) 71-59 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Guifoes dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Fisica's 18. They outrebounded Fisica 32-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. Guard Daniel Correia (174-84) notched 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Pedro Silva (178-82) supported him with 11 points. Four Guifoes players scored in double figures. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-87) did not help to save the game for Fisica. Guard Nuno Monteiro (180-86) added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Guifoes moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Fisica. Guifoes will meet higher ranked Electrico FC (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fisica will play against Illiabum in Ilhavo and hope to secure a win.
