There was no surprise in Kaunas where 12th ranked Silute (6-10) was defeated by third ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (10-6) 97-87 on Saturday. Silute was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Silute 48-30 including 22 on the offensive glass. Forward Tauras Jogela (201-93) fired 32 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Saulius Stombergas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) produced 17 points and 6 assists and guard Evaldas Jurkus (190-84) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Four Silute players scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio maintains third position with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Radviliskis, which they share with Nafta Universitetas. Loser Silute dropped to the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio will face Triobet (#6) in Jonava in the next round. Silute will play on the road against Meresta (#7) in Pakruojis.
