The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Budivelnyk (11-3) in Kyiv on Tuesday night. Hosts were rolled over by ninth ranked Ferro-ZNTU (7-7) 99-78. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ferro-ZNTU made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Ferro-ZNTU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 32 points. His fellow American import guard Jeremy Chappell (191-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures. Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (197-87) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (211-87, college: Radford) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Budivelnyk. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferro-ZNTU maintains ninth place with 7-7 record. Defending champion Budivelnyk still keeps top position with three games lost. Ferro-ZNTU are looking forward to face higher ranked BC Odessa (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Budivelnyk will have a break next round.
