BV Chemnitz 99 (7-6) outlasted Crailsheim Merlins (8-4) in overtime by two points 92-90 on Saturday night. The game took place in Crailsheim. But the guests from Chemnitz were better at the end. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 22-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-10. BV Chemnitz 99 shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Ty Shaw (202-79, college: Idaho Coll.) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Darryl Webb (198-88, college: Indiana, PA, agency: Pro One Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds and naturalized American forward Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Jena. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 will face Ehingen/Urspringschule (#11) in Allmendingen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Crailsheim Merlins will play on the road against USC Heidelberg (#8).
