Everything went according to plan in Duesseldorf where fourth ranked Gloria Giants (8-3) outscored 6th ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (6-6) 74-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gloria Giants. Cuxhaven BasCats was better in fourth quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gloria Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Cuxhaven BasCats' 24. They outrebounded Cuxhaven BasCats 38-23 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Liberian forward Patrick Flomo (203-80, college: Ohio) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American guard Aubrey Reese (183-78, college: Murray St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points. Four Gloria Giants players scored in double figures. Gloria Giants' coach Murat Didin felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import swingman Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Gloria Giants have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Cuxhaven BasCats dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Gloria Giants will face Webmoebel Baskets (#10) in Paderborn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cuxhaven BasCats will play at home against the league's second-placed Kirchheim Knights.
