Regular Season Round 14: Dnipro - DniproAzot 70-80

The most important game in the last round took place in Dnepropetrovsk between third ranked Dnipro (10-5) and twelfth ranked DniproAzot (3-12) on Sunday night. Dnipro was defeated by DniproAzot at home 80-70. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Dnipro. The game was mostly controlled by DniproAzot. They managed to win fourth quarter 26-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by Dnipro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian Gytis Sirutavicius (195-83) scored 16 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Filipino-American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St.) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. International guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (205-89) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DniproAzot maintains twelfth position with 3-12 record. Dnipro at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Khimik. DniproAzot are looking forward to face higher ranked Azovmash (#3) in Mariupol in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dnipro will have a break next round.
