We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Istanbul B.B. (5-7) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Pertevniyal (5-7) 86-79 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-79. Istanbul B.B. was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Burak Can stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Soykan Yikilmaz (185-92) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Five Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Pertevniyal's coach Menderes Gumusdal used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Serbian power forward Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds and Recep Dogrusoez (-86) scored 15 points. Pertevniyal moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated Istanbul B.B. Pertevniyal will face higher ranked Vestel (#7) in Manisa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
