Regular Season Round 19: Statyba - Delikatesas 86-84

Round 19 in NKL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Vilnius where host Statyba (10-9) edged league's leader Delikatesas (13-6) 86-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Delikatesas. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-20. But Delikatesas won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Delikatesas 39-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. Statyba shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) fired 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Statyba players scored in double figures. Swingman Vaidotas Jatulevicius (194-88) produced 25 points (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and guard Vidmantas Uzkuraitis (189-85) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Statyba moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mazeikiai and Perlas-MRU. Delikatesas at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Radviliskis who have the same record. Delikatesas will play next round against Mazeikiai trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Statyba will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked ABRO-Universitetas in Siauliai.
