Regular Season Round 19: Mazeikiai - Silute 66-58

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Silute (8-11) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Mazeikiai (10-9) 66-58 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Silute won third quarter 10-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) fired 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Dainius Vaitelis (201-86) chipped in 16 points. Forward Egidijus Ramanauskas (202-88) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and forward Rimvydas Brencius (200-92) added 4 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Mazeikiai have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Perlas-MRU and Statyba. Loser Silute keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Mazeikiai will face league's second-placed Delikatesas in Joniskis in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Silute will play at home against Nafta Universitetas (#4) in Klaipeda.
