Regular Season Round 15: Hoverla - Budivelnyk 61-60

Round 15 in Superleague means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Frankivsk where host Hoverla (10-5) edged league's leader Budivelnyk (11-4) 61-60 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-11. But Budivelnyk won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Budivelnyk outrebounded Hoverla 39-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brian Greene (195-83, college: Florida A&M) who scored 15 points. His fellow American import center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84) who recorded 15 points and American forward Zach Morley (203-83, college: Wisconsin) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Budivelnyk's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoverla have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dnipro. Defending champion Budivelnyk dropped to the third position with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Azovmash. Budivelnyk will play next round against Halychyna trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hoverla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
