Very important is a road loss of third ranked Illiabum (5-2) against tenth ranked Fisica (3-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Illiabum was edged by Fisica in a tough game in Torres Vedras 67-68. Illiabum was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Fisica forced 22 Illiabum turnovers. Strangely Illiabum outrebounded Fisica 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for forward Carlos Dias (197-79) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Cape Verdean guard Braima Freire (188-82) accounted for 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American-Liberian forward Kadiri Richard (203-80, college: Virginia Union) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Joao Figueiredo (183-79) added 18 points respectively for Illiabum in the defeat. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. Fisica moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Illiabum at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Fisica will play against Gaeirense (#10) in the next round. Illiabum will play against Electrico FC (#9) in Ponte de Sor and hopes to get back on the winning track.
