Very important is a road loss of third ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (12-8) against eighth ranked Perlas-MRU (11-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Zalgiris-Sabonio was crushed by Perlas-MRU in Vilnius 109-78. It looked good early as Zalgiris-Sabonio took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Perlas-MRU had a 34-18 second period charge getting the lead and Zalgiris-Sabonio was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-109. Perlas-MRU players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Zalgiris-Sabonio's players. 24 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris-Sabonio helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Antanas Udras (202-92) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Gintautas Vileita (194-75, college: Monmouth) chipped in 17 points and 9 assists. Five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Forward Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Marius Grigonis (194-94) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perlas-MRU moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Triobet and Statyba. Zalgiris-Sabonio at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Perlas-MRU's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Nafta Universitetas in Klaipeda and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris-Sabonio's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena LKKA-Atletas.
