Regular Season Round 10: Montijobanda - GDESSA 68-49

We should mention about the upset which took place in Montijo, where higher ranked GDESSA (6-4) was outleveled in a road game by ninth ranked Montijobanda (4-5) 68-49. The game was mostly controlled by Montijobanda. GDESSA was better in third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding GDESSA to just 6 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. They outrebounded GDESSA 56-35 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Ta-Myra Davis (185-87, college: Wright St.) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Sarah Soroka (185-89, college: Daemen) supported her with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by international center Luiana Livulo (187-91) did not help to save the game for GDESSA. American guard Angie Ned (175-85, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 10 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Montijobanda moved-up to seventh place. GDESSA at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Montijobanda's next round opponent will be higher ranked CAB Madeira (#6) in Funchal and it may be quite challenging game. GDESSA will play at home against Lombos Quinta in Carcavelos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
