Regular Season Round 9: Erdemir - Mersin 65-70

There was an upset when higher ranked Erdemir (5-4) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Mersin (4-5) 70-65 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Erdemir won fourth quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Vincent Grier (195-83, college: Minnesota, agency: ARN Sports and Entertainment) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Anthony Grundy (189-79, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Gerrod Henderson (192-78, college: Louisiana Tech) with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and power forward KZell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) scored 7 points and 12 rebounds. Erdemir's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mersin moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Tofas and Karsiyaka. Loser Erdemir dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Mersin will face higher ranked Aliaga (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
