Regular Season Round 15: Wulfen - Bayer Giants 66-64

Date: December 10, 2011
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked BSV Wulfen (7-7) edged at home 10th ranked Bayer Giants (5-9) 66-64 on Saturday. Bayer Giants trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 26-13 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 64-66 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) chipped in 19 points. Four BSV Wulfen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Michael Kuczmann (192-93) who recorded 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Lukas Welling (199-86) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen maintains eighth place in Group North with 7-7 record. Loser Bayer Giants keep the tenth position with nine games lost. BSV Wulfen will face higher ranked SC Rasta Vechta (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
