Leader Alges delivered the ninth win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked CAB Madeira (6-4) 77-54 in Funchal. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of CAB Madeira. The game without a history. Alges led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American guard Jennifer Risper (175-87, college: Vanderbilt) fired 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import swingman Christina Wirth (186-87, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 21 points. Alges' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Tamara Milovac (186-86) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Jheri Booker (183, college: Tennessee St.) added 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Alges (9-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with AD Vagos. Defending champion CAB Madeira dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with GDESSA and Lombos Quinta. Alges is looking forward to face Barcelos (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CAB Madeira will play against Montijobanda (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
