Very expected game when 12th ranked Istanbul Universitesi (1-7) was defeated at home by third ranked Galatasaray (7-1) 72-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 38-20 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Galatasaray forced 21 Istanbul Universitesi turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian-American swingman Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Ceyhun Yildizoglu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Roneeka Hodges (180-82, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Tamera Young (188-86, college: JMU) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Galatasaray keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Istanbul Universitesi lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Galatasaray will face Antakya (#9) in Hatay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against Ceyhan Bld in Adana.
