The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Fenerbahce as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Fenerbahce smashed one of their biggest challengers Kayseri in Istanbul 82-58. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kayseri. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Fenerbahce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kayseri's 26 and made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian forward Penny Taylor (185-81) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian center Ivana Matovic (197-83) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Bulgarian-American point guard Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (175-82, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Dila Askin (177-87) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce (7-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Galatasaray. Kayseri at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Kayseri will play next round against Optimum TED trying to get back on the winning streak. Fenerbahce will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Besiktas in Istanbul.
