Regular Season Round 7: Electrico FC - Guifoes 66-80

Higher ranked Electrico FC (3-4) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Guifoes (3-4) with the biggest margin this round 80-66 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Guifoes. Electrico FC was better in second period 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Electrico FC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of Angolan forward Joao Gaspar (196-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Jose Almeida (199-86) helped adding 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Guifoes players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized Cape Verdean swingman Mario Neves (190-77) scored 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guifoes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Electrico FC. Guifoes will face bottom-ranked Povoa (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
