Rather expected game when 10th ranked Cherkasy (5-12) lost to eighth ranked Ferro-ZNTU (10-7) in Zaporozhye 75-92 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ferro-ZNTU. Cherkasy managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ferro-ZNTU looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Cherkasy's players. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for center R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) contributed with 25 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures. Guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson) replied with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and power forward Trent Plaisted (211-86, college: BYU, agency: Priority Sports) added 18 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Cherkasy. Cherkasy's coach Volodimir Kholopov rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Ferro-ZNTU have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 10-7 record. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Mykolaiv. Ferro-ZNTU are looking forward to face Mykolaiv (#11) in Mykolaiv in the next round. Cherkasy will play at home against Dnipro in Dnepropetrovsk and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
