Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kirchheim Knights (10-4) against ninth ranked Webmoebel Baskets (8-6) on Friday night. Visiting Kirchheim Knights were defeated by Webmoebel Baskets in Paderborn 87-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kirchheim Knights. The game was mostly controlled by Webmoebel Baskets. Kirchheim Knights was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Webmoebel Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Kirchheim Knights were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American swingman Justin Stommes (200-88, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Jamar Diggs (187-88, college: Wofford) helped adding 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was American guard Ahmad Smith (194-84, college: St.Bonaventure) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Albanian guard Besnik Bekteshi (188-93) scored 13 points. Webmoebel Baskets moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Jena and Chemnitz. Kirchheim Knights at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Webmoebel Baskets will play against BG Karlsruhe (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against Gloria Giants (#4) in Duesseldorf and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
