There was a surprise result when eighteenth ranked Balikesir (4-10) beat on the road higher ranked Istanbul B.B. (6-8) 74-61 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Balikesir. Istanbul B.B. was better in third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Balikesir's coach Ismail Dogrutekin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Recep Dogrusoez (-86) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and guard Sezgin Eris (185-85) added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals in the effort for Istanbul B.B.Balikesir moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Istanbulspor and Usak. Istanbul B.B. at the other side keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Balikesir will face higher ranked Vestel (#9) in Manisa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
