There was no surprise when 20th ranked TED Istanbul (2-12) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Pertevniyal (6-8) 81-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 28-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Pertevniyal made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. TED Istanbul was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Burak Can who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Caner Osman contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Sercan Tulek (201-88) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Mehmet Baras (187-81) added 13 points in the effort for TED Istanbul. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pertevniyal moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Gelisim and Istanbul B.B. TED Istanbul lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Pertevniyal will face higher ranked Final Genclik (#8) in Bursa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TED Istanbul will play on the road against Akhisar Bld (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
