Regular Season Round 16: Vechta - Wulfen 72-66
Date: December 17, 2011
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked BSV Wulfen (7-8) lost on the road to third ranked SC Rasta Vechta (11-4) 72-66 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 22-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Marcus Smallwood (198-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Matt Reid (185-84, college: Cameron) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. SC Rasta Vechta's coach Patrick Elzie used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Steve Briggs (178-85, college: Okla.Wesleyan) replied with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Dijon Smith (203-89, college: Ft.Hays State) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for BSV Wulfen. SC Rasta Vechta have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group North. Newly promoted BSV Wulfen keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. SC Rasta Vechta will have a break next round. BSV Wulfen will play at home against Dorsten (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
