Date: December 17, 2011
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Lietuvos rytas (11-1) in Prienai on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Rudupis (7-2) 90-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 31-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Rudupis had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Lietuvos rytas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for the former international forward Dainius Salenga (197-77) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. Rudupis' coach Virginijus Seskus used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Lawrence Roberts (205-82, college: Mississippi St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Rudupis maintains fourth place with 7-2 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Rudupis are looking forward to face Pieno Zvaigzdes (#7) in Pasvalys in the next round.
