Regular Season Round 10: Barreirense - Ovarense 52-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Barreiro between third ranked Barreirense CEPSA (7-3) and fourth ranked Ovarense (7-2) on Saturday night. Barreirense CEPSA was defeated by Ovarense at home 52-62. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Barreirense CEPSA. The game was mostly controlled by Ovarense. Barreirense CEPSA managed to win fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Barreirense CEPSA to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Austen Powers (203-87, college: Seattle) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Fernando Neves (194-80) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Ovarense's coach Mario Leite used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) replied with 17 points and the former international forward Jose Silva (194-89) added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Barreirense CEPSA. Ovarense moved-up to third place. Barreirense CEPSA at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Ovarense are looking forward to face CAB Madeira (#6) in Funchal in the next round. Barreirense CEPSA will play at home against the league's second-placed FC Porto Ferpinta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
