Regular Season Round 11: LSU-Baltai - Lietkabelis 74-88

Techasas has finally registered their first victory this season after nine consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Baltai Kaunas (6-5)on the road game in Kaunas 88-74. It looked good early as Baltai Kaunas took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Techasas had a 23-19 second period charge getting the lead and Baltai Kaunas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-88. Techasas dominated on the defensive end, holding Baltai Kaunas to just 6 points in third quarter. It was an exceptional evening for forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Edgaras Stanionis (193-88) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Croatian power forward Mario Delas (207-90) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points respectively for Baltai Kaunas in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Techasas maintains twelfth place with 1-9 record. Baltai Kaunas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Techasas will play against higher ranked Kedainiai (#10) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baltai Kaunas will play against Sakalai (#9) in Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.
