There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (7-8) won against on the road higher ranked Hertener Loewen (8-6) 84-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Hertener Loewen was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hertener Loewen's 28. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel forced 24 Hertener Loewen turnovers and outrebounded them 35-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Hertener Loewen was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American power forward Reggie Owens (200-87, college: Azusa Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Marquis Jones (185-87, college: Rhode Island, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Taylor (201-87, college: E.Kentucky) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Christoph Hackenesch (204-86) added 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Hertener Loewen. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to eighth place in Group North, which they share with Wulfen. Loser Hertener Loewen dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face ALBA Berlin II (#12) at home in the next round.
