Regular Season Round 15: Karlsruhe - Cuxhaven 90-79

There was an upset when higher ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (6-8) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked BG Karlsruhe (4-10) 90-79 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by BG Karlsruhe. Cuxhaven BasCats was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BG Karlsruhe shot 27 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Cuxhaven BasCats only scored six points from the stripe. Cuxhaven BasCats were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Martin Samarco (191-85, college: Bowling Green) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. His fellow American import center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Jackson Capel (191-87, college: Evangel) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American forward Dorian McDaniel (198-87, college: Prairie View A&M) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cuxhaven BasCats. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BG Karlsruhe moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Braves. Cuxhaven BasCats lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. BG Karlsruhe will face higher ranked Webmoebel Baskets (#6) in Paderborn in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
