There was an upset when 4th placed Dnipro (11-6) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Cherkasy (6-12) 72-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. Dnipro was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Dnipro 45-32 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Willie Solomon (187-78, college: Clemson) stepped up and scored 29 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and FYR Macedonian guard Vojdan Stojanovski (193-87) chipped in 2 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) responded with 13 points and 5 assists and international power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Cherkasy maintains tenth place with 6-12 record, which they share with Mykolaiv. Dnipro at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Cherkasy will face DniproAzot (#13) in Dniprodzerzhynsk in the next round. Dnipro will play on the road against Ferro-ZNTU (#8) in Zaporozhye.
