There was no surprise in Balikesir where bottom-ranked Bandirma Kir. (0-10) was defeated by twelfth ranked Hacettepe Univ. (4-6) 74-68 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Hacettepe Univ. forced 21 Bandirma Kir. turnovers. American forward Ricardo Marsh (207-81, college: ODU) fired 30 points for the winners. American-Georgian swingman Melvin Sanders (196-81, college: Oklahoma St., agency: FCM) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Hacettepe Univ.'s coach Alp Bayramoglu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Paul Miller (208-82, college: Wichita St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Safak Edge (188-92) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Hacettepe Univ. moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Mersin. Bandirma Kir. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with ten games lost. Hacettepe Univ. will face league's second-placed Besiktas in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bandirma Kir. will play on the road against the league's leader Anadolu Efes (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
