There was an upset when higher ranked Vestel (8-7) was defeated on the road by seventeenth ranked Balikesir (5-10) 90-82 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 29-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Balikesir made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds and guard Yunus Akcay (-89) who added 24 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Balikesir's coach Ismail Dogrutekin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Sercan Topcu (185-85) responded with 19 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Balikesir moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Baskent Genclik. Vestel at the other side keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Balikesir will face bottom-ranked TED Istanbul (#20) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
