Regular Season Round 10: Istanbul Univ. - Kayseri 63-81

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Kayseri (7-3) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Istanbul Universitesi (1-9) 81-63 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kayseri. Istanbul Universitesi was better in fourth quarter 14-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kayseri had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American center Nakia Sanford (194-76, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import swingman Bahar Ozturk (183-84, college: Connecticut) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Charde Houston (185-86, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) replied with 12 points and Canadian power forward Miranda Ayim (191-88, college: Pepperdine) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Istanbul Universitesi. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kayseri moved-up to third place, which they share with Ceyhan Bld. Istanbul Universitesi lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Kayseri will face Antakya (#10) in Hatay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against Besiktas in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
