Regular Season Round 14: LTi 46ers - NY Phantoms 62-63

Very expected game when 13th ranked LTi 46ers (5-9) were edged by sixth ranked New Yorker Phantoms (8-6) in Giessen 63-62 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 22-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American power forward Rich Melzer (203-79, college: Wisc.-RiverFal., agency: Court Side) saved the victory by scoring 15 points. The other American import center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) contributed with 7 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Barry Stewart (191-88, college: Mississippi St.) replied with 16 points and Bosnian power forward Elvir Ovcina (211-76, college: Syracuse, agency: Interperformances) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for LTi 46ers. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. New Yorker Phantoms moved-up to fifth place, which they share with B.Muenchen and s.Oliver Baskets. LTi 46ers at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. New Yorker Phantoms will face league's second-placed ratiopharm Ulm at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. LTi 46ers will play against EWE Baskets (#8) in Oldenburg.
