The game in Chemnitz supposed to be quite interesting. 5th ranked Science City Jena (8-7) played at the court of seventh ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (9-6). BV Chemnitz 99 smashed Science City Jena 79-58 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Science City Jena. The game was mostly controlled by BV Chemnitz 99. Science City Jena managed to win fourth quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Science City Jena 29-18 including 19 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Japanese point guard Takumi Ishizaki (188-84) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and American point guard Gary Johnson (188-82, college: Cent.Florida) who added 12 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa, agency: Court Side) responded with 15 points (made all of his eight free throws) and his fellow American import guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BV Chemnitz 99 have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Science City Jena at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Webmoebel and NBC. BV Chemnitz 99 are looking forward to face USC Heidelberg (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Science City Jena will play against the league's second-placed Kirchheim Knights and is hoping to win this game.
