An interesting game was played in Zaporozhye where host Ferro-ZNTU (#8) rolled over 5th ranked Dnipro with 23-point difference 96-73 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Ferro-ZNTU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Ferro-ZNTU outrebounded Dnipro 41-30 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Dnipro's players. American center R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) scored 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) chipped in 11 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures. Ferro-ZNTU's coach Kiril Bolshakov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was international guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) with 25 points and American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ferro-ZNTU maintains eighth position with 11-9 record. Loser Dnipro dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Ferro-ZNTU will meet at home higher ranked Azovmash (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dnipro will have a break next round.
