There was no surprise in Lviv where 14th ranked Halychyna (2-17) was defeated by third ranked BC Donetsk (13-4) 88-71 on Monday. Halychyna trailed 45-44 at halftime, rallying from a 28-12 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. BC Donetsk dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Halychyna's 32. They outrebounded Halychyna 47-27 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. BC Donetsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) who scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian forward Ivan Radenovic (208-84, college: Arizona) chipped in 22 points. Four BC Donetsk players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Lans Harris (195-83, college: Kansas St.) who recorded 20 points and 7 assists and his fellow American import guard Mike Williams (187, college: W.Carolina) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BC Donetsk have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Halychyna lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. BC Donetsk will face Hoverla (#4) in Frankivsk in the next round. Halychyna will play at home against Azovmash (#3) in Mariupol.
