Seventeenth-ranked TBB Trier (4-10) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Brose Baskets (11-2) on Tuesday. The visitors from Bamberg managed to secure only five-point victory 75-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 24-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-7. TBB Trier was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Slovakian guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. American guard Brian Roberts (188-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. The former international center Maik Zirbes (205-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for TBB Trier. Four TBB Trier players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Brose Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Ratiopharm. TBB Trier lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with ten games lost.
