There was a small surprise when ninth ranked BC Kyiv (10-10) beat at home 7th ranked BC Odessa (11-8) 76-71 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-71. BC Odessa was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Derrick Zimmerman (191-81, college: Mississippi St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Gary Ervin (182-83, college: Arkansas) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. Vincentian center Shawn King (208-82, college: ORU) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 21 points in the effort for BC Odessa. BC Kyiv maintains ninth place with 10-10 record. Loser BC Odessa dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. BC Kyiv will face league's second-placed BC Donetsk at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
