Regular Season Round 15: Phoenix Hagen - Goettingen 83-77

Rather expected game when 18th ranked BG Goettingen (2-13) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Phoenix Hagen (6-9) 83-77 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington, agency: Limelight Hoops) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. Phoenix Hagen's coach Ingo Freyer used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) and the other American import power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson) added 22 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four BG Goettingen players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Phoenix Hagen. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Walter Tigers. BG Goettingen lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Phoenix Hagen will meet higher ranked Artland Dragons (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BG Goettingen will play against New Yorker Phantoms (#7) in Braunschweig and hope to secure a win.
