Very expected game in Istanbul where 6th ranked Botas (5-6) was crushed by second ranked Galatasaray (10-1) 86-63. The game was mostly controlled by Galatasaray. Botas was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Botas' 28. Italian-American swingman Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 4 assists. Spanish forward Alba Torrens (188-89) contributed with 20 points for the winners. American center Courtney Paris (193-87, college: Oklahoma) answered with 9 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Nilay Kartaltepe Yigit (172-79) added 11 points in the effort for Botas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fenerbahce. Botas at the other side keeps the sixth place with six games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Ceyhan Bld (#4) in Adana. Botas will play on the road against the league's leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
